Man held with 38g mephedrone worth Rs 1.1L in Vatva

Ahmedabad: The city crime branch on Tuesday arrested a 38-year-old man from Vatva and seized 38g of mephedrone, valued at Rs 1.1 lakh, from his residence.Acting on a tip-off that the accused was selling MD drugs from his house, a crime branch team raided the premises in the Hussainabad Society near Bibi Talav in Vatva, police said.The accused was identified as Javed Khan Baloch. During the search, police also seized a mobile phone, a weighing scale, 60 small zip-lock bags and a plastic bag.The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 1.2 lakh, including the mobile phone and weighing scale.A case was registered at the detection of crime branch police station under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.Police said Baloch has three cases pending against him. These include two gambling cases — one at Vatva police station and another at Matar police station — both registered in 2020.
