HasanAbi sues Scott Jennings? Twitch streamer calls CNN analyst’s ‘defamation’ claim an ‘egregious lie’
HasanAbi and Scott Jennings are at the centre of a growing controversy after the Twitch streamer said he is taking legal action against the CNN panelist. The dispute began after Scott Jennings shared old clips from HasanAbi’s livestreams and accused him of saying, “USA should resume lynchings against Black people.” HasanAbi rejected that reading of the clips and said Jennings turned comments he was responding to into a position he does not hold. On August 13, HasanAbi said he was “working through litigation” and called Jennings’ post an “egregious” example of defamation. As of August 14, Jennings had not publicly responded to the legal-action claim.
Scott Jennings shares HasanAbi clips and makes lynching claim
On August 11, Scott Jennings posted on X about HasanAbi and shared a two-minute-14-second video from “The Scott Jennings Show” on CNN. The video included older clips from HasanAbi’s Twitch streams.Jennings introduced HasanAbi as a “radical socialist streamer” while discussing his political links to Abdul El-Sayed. He then played clips in which HasanAbi used offensive language while discussing Black voters and a comment about lynching.HasanAbi was heard saying:“I don’t give a **** what Black people care about. ‘Oh, Black people care about this! Black people care about that!’ Like, shut the **** up! That’s not how politics works. ‘Oh, well, Hasan, how dare you?! Like it or not, Black people care about this issue.’ It’s like, it’s such a ******* stupid stance. Any other Black folk want to engage in radical activist language in this ******* chat? Yes, dude, it’s because I am racist! That’s why! It’s because I am racist, dude. Back to a better time when lynchings were happening. This is what I like as a Black man. ‘Are you always doing too much with Black people? Leave them alone. I want to go back to lynching. Like, I get it, but relax, man.’ Shut the **** up! Okay? You got me! You got me because I am a racist person.”The dispute is about how those words should be understood. HasanAbi says the clips do not show him expressing a genuine belief in lynching or hatred of Black people.
HasanAbi explains old comments and says Scott Jennings defamed him
On August 12, HasanAbi said he was responding to a Twitch chatter who, according to him, was pretending to be Black and claiming to speak for Black people. He explained:“The issue is literally a guy larping as a Black person, saying, ‘Black people care about ICE.’ Okay? Random anonymous guy claiming, ‘Oh, Black people care about the border! Black people care about ICE! You don’t know what Black people care about!’ Which is bull****! That’s not true. A chatter that wasn’t even Black, by the way. Just a person that was either larping as a Black person or just claiming to speak for all Black people.”HasanAbi also said:“If anyone gets duped by this edit, I’m sorry, you are the biggest ******* moron of all time. Me reading a goddamn comment that I very clearly disagree with being turned into a genuine position that I have? Let’s be real, if I actually believed those things that they claim I believe, you would literally, you would straight-up defend me, Scott Jennings.”During a livestream on August 13, HasanAbi again addressed Jennings and said he was pursuing legal action. He said:“The initial clip came from the RNC, and now Scott Jennings is highlighting it. This is such an egregious lie. It is such an egregious instance of defamation that numerous people who ******* hate me, like literally hate me, have actually gone out to bat and said, ‘This is the worst instance of defamation that I have seen. I hope you sue him.’ Which I am! I am in the process of… I’m working through litigation right now, because that’s all they do!”As of August 14, Scott Jennings had not responded to HasanAbi’s latest statements. The report was published by Sportskeeda.
