Punjab man beats woman beggar with slipper 9 times, kicks her outside temple
KAPURTHALA: After a video clip of a man assaulting a woman beggar, who was holding her child, with his slipper just outside a temple in Kapurthala emerged on social media, police booked the accused for assaulting and attempting to outrage her modesty.Accused Pawan Sharma runs a shop opposite the temple selling articles offered at the temple.According to the FIR registered at Kapurthala City police station, the incident took place outside Mata Bhadrakali temple around 5.27 pm on Aug 9.The accused could be seen entering into an altercation with the woman, sitting just outside the gate of the temple, then assaulting her with his slipper, and even as some people intervened, he kicked her.Kapurthala DSP Shital Singh said that they were looking for the accused and the woman beggar also went missing after the incident.“We are trying to trace her and have asked the temple committee for help to find her,” he said.Police registered the case under sections 74 and 115 (2) of BNS.
