Four country-made pistols seized in Nanded, FIR registered against four under Arms Act

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Limbgaon police in Nanded district on Thursday seized four country-made pistols, 13 live cartridges and a motorcycle, collectively worth Rs 1.91 lakh, from two workers allegedly possessing the weapons for sale in Waghishivar village on Friday.Police identified the arrested as Anand alias Chunnu Sardar Yadav (26) from Wazirabad Chowrasta and Sheikh Javed alias Laddya Rehmat (22) from Kaleshwar.Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted the duo on the Naleshwar-Sugav road near an agricultural shed in Waghishivar around 4pm. During the search, police recovered four country-made pistols, magazines and 13 live cartridges. One pistol was found loaded with four 7.62×25 mm rounds. A motorcycle allegedly used in the offence was also seized.Nanded SP Nilabh Rohan said, “Police are investigating the source of the firearms, their intended buyers and possible links to a larger illegal arms network. Efforts are on to trace and apprehend two other suspects, including one from Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district.”Local crime branch inspector Atul Bhosale said the accused were allegedly in possession of the weapons without a licence and intended to sell them. Police are probing the supply chain and the involvement of other suspects.A case has been registered at Limbgaon police station under sections 3, 7 and 25 of the Arms Act.
