The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has started the admission process for candidates seeking admission to the first-year MBBS and BDS programmes under various special quota categories for the 2026-27 academic session. Through an official notice issued on August 5, the department has asked eligible candidates to submit their applications by August 11, 2026, during office hours.The notification is applicable only to candidates claiming admission under notified special quota categories. Applicants must ensure that their forms are complete and accompanied by all the required documents before submitting them to the DME office within the prescribed timeline.According to the official notification, admissions will be offered under six special quota categories: Freedom Fighters, Martyrs of the Assam Movement, Victims of Extremist Violence, Ex-Servicemen/Serving Defence Personnel, Sports Quota, and Orphan Quota. Only candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria for these categories will be considered during the admission process.
