Mahayuti rift: BJP unhappy with Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Shirsat visiting Abhijit Dipke kin | Mumbai News
MUMBAI: The BJP is upset with Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena over its minister Sanjay Shirsat visiting Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke’s family and meeting them in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. After the BJP expressed displeasure over Shirsat’s meeting the Dipkes, saying it indicated his backing for Dipke, Shinde is said to have given Shirsat a dressing down on Tuesday when the state cabinet meeting was conducted.Speaking on reports that he could be dropped from the cabinet, Shirsat denied there was any reshuffle in the offing. The BJP said it was not right for a Mahayuti party’s minister to meet Dipke’s parents and praise him.BJP minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said Shinde must take stern action against such people. “Ultimately it is their party’s decision. How their netas must behave, this is up to Eknath Shinde. Eknath Shinde has spoken on this. While working in Mahayuti this kind of conduct is not right and I’m sure Eknath Shinde will take appropriate action,” Bawankule said.BJP functionaries said the BJP’s top leadership had taken note of Shirsat’s visit to Dipke’s residence and meeting with his family and they too had expressed their displeasure.Last month, Shirsat met Dipke’s parents and promised their son would get security cover, a day after the CJP agitation was called off following Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
