Priceless stake: Noel’s children now Tata Sons shareholders
MUMBAI: Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata’s three children have become shareholders of Tata Sons for the first time, according to the company’s FY26 documents, after inheriting shares from their grandmother Simone Tata.Leah, Maya and Neville Tata – all of whom work within the Tata Group – now hold two Tata Sons shares each. The stakes are modest in number, but not in value: a single Tata Sons share is estimated to be worth Rs 4-5 crore. The FY25 documents showed Simone holding eight Tata Sons shares. She died in Dec 2025, and her holding was split equally among her son and grandchildren. Noel’s stake rose to 4,060 shares from 4,058, while Leah, Maya and Neville were added as shareholders with two shares each.Noel’s older half-brother Jimmy Tata holds 3,262 Tata Sons shares. Ratan Tata, who died in Oct 2024, continues to be listed as holder of 3,368 shares – he had bequeathed them to his two philanthropic foundations, but the transfer is yet to go through.Tata Sons’ other individual shareholders include Shapoor Mistry, Noel’s brother-in-law (54 shares); his nephews Firoz and Zahan Mistry (27 shares each); Piloo Tata, widow of Minocher Tata – a grand-nephew of Group founder Jamsetji Tata (487 shares); her children Jimmy Tata and Vera Choksey (157 shares each); and Aishwarya, Bhavani and Jay Pratapsingh Chauhan of the royal family of Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat (one share).Almost all of them acquired their holdings through inheritance – Tata Sons, it may be noted, has not altered its equity capital in decades.
