After Deepika Padukone’s exit from ‘Spirit’, Katrina Kaif in talks for a crucial role in Prabhas and Triptii Dimri starrer – Report |
Fresh reports suggest that Katrina Kaif could be in talks to join Prabhas’ upcoming film ‘Spirit’. While there has been no official confirmation from either the makers or the actress, industry buzz claims Sandeep Reddy Vanga is considering Katrina for a pivotal cameo that could become one of the film’s biggest surprises. As stated by Deccan Herald, according to the latest speculation, Katrina is being considered for a brief but significant role in ‘Spirit’. Although the character is expected to have limited screen time, reports claim it could play a crucial part in the story and influence the narrative at an important stage. If the rumours prove accurate, the cameo could emerge as one of the film’s most talked-about elements.
Casting buzz follows Deepika Padukone’s exit
Earlier, Deepika Padukone had reportedly been signed as the female lead opposite Prabhas. The two previously shared screen space in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, though many viewers felt they had relatively few scenes together. However, Deepika is no longer associated with ‘Spirit’, paving the way for fresh speculation about the film’s casting.
Katrina Kaif’s possible return to Telugu cinema
If Katrina comes on board, the project would mark her return to Telugu cinema after nearly two decades. She was last seen in Telugu films such as ‘Malliswari’ alongside Venkatesh and ‘Allari Pidugu’ with Nandamuri Balakrishna. The actress has also kept a relatively low profile professionally since marrying Vicky Kaushal, taking on fewer projects in recent years. Her last few releases did not perform as expected, and she has largely stayed away from announcing new films.Despite the growing buzz, neither the makers of ‘Spirit’ nor Katrina Kaif have confirmed the reports. Until an official announcement is made, the speculation surrounding her casting remains unverified.
Deepika Padukone’s reported exit sparked controversy
Before reports linked Katrina Kaif to ‘Spirit’, the film made headlines following Deepika Padukone’s reported exit. While the makers never officially disclosed the reason, a News18 report claimed the actor had sought a remuneration of around Rs 25 crore along with a 10% share in the film’s profits. She was also reportedly said to have requested an eight-hour work schedule, had a large entourage and was unwilling to dub her Telugu dialogues, claims that fuelled speculation about disagreements with the production. Reports later stated that Triptii Dimri replaced Deepika and was signed for a significantly lower fee. However, neither Deepika Padukone nor the makers have publicly confirmed these claims.
