While it was recently reported that Ankit Gupta and Anchal Sahu were in talks to headline Saurabh Tewari’s next, we can now confirm that the duo has been locked as the lead pair. Joining them is Akshay Anand, who will play a pivotal role. The yet-untitled daily soap is expected to go on floors next month. A source associated with the show says, “Set in Darbhanga, Bihar, the story revolves around a criminal who unexpectedly gets married to a girl from a family of law enforcers. The clash between the two contrasting worlds forms the crux of the narrative. Ankit and Anchal will headline the show, while Akshay has been roped in for a pivotal role that will play an important part in shaping the story. The team is currently in the final stages of pre-production and is expected to begin shooting next month.Ankit, who has been part of shows such as Balika Vadhu, Kundali Bhagya, Udaariyaan and Junooniyatt, and also participated in Bigg Boss 16, was last seen in Maati Se Bandhi Dor, which ended in March 2025. Saurabh Tewari’s new show marks his return to television after nearly a year and a half. Anchal, who has featured in shows including Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye and Barrister Babu, was last seen in Parineetii. In a previous interaction with us in March, while speaking about the gap in his career, he had said, “I am looking for something really good, even on TV. The problem with television is that shows often start on a very promising note but eventually turn into typical daily soaps. I was supposed to do a show last year, but it was scrapped. I want to take up something that allows me to learn and challenges me as an actor. At the moment, most TV makers are relying on remakes. I am also auditioning for OTT projects, but nothing has been finalised so far. Being out of work for so long does take a toll on my mental health, but it doesn’t scare me anymore. I have evolved as a person, especially spiritually, which helps me realise that everything has its own timing.”
