Plots, flats, gold and luxury cars: How ACB uncovered Rs 50 crore assets; HMDA chief engineer held | Hyderabad News
HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigators on Tuesday conducted searches at 11 places linked to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) chief engineer B Ravinder in the city and unearthed alleged disproportionate assets worth over ₹50 crore.The officer has been arrested, and he will be produced before court on Wednesday.Acting on specific information about the assets acquired by 60-year-old Ravinder through indulgence in alleged corrupt practices, ACB registered a case of disproportionate assets (DA) against him under Section 13(1) (b), read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and carried out searches at 11 places, including his house at Sumadhura Acropolis condominium in Nanakramguda, office, and nine other places belonging to his relatives,associates and alleged benamis.
During the searches, ACB sleuths found property documents of five plots located at Kondakal, Kistapur and Pasamala on the outskirts of the city, four flats in Narsingi and Nanakramguda, four acres of agricultural land at Gudur in Kothur mandal and Shamshabad, a semi-finished villa built on 300 square yards at Srivari Meadows gated community in Mokila, aG+4 building constructed on a 300 sq yd plot at Masjid Banda near Kondapur, ₹3.8 lakh cash, ₹45 lakh bank balance, 1.44 kilos of gold ornaments, 12.5 kilos of silver ornaments, household articles worth ₹17.2 lakh, electronic gadgets worth ₹9.32 lakh, and four vehicles, including Innova HyCross, Tata Safari, Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV, worth ₹1.16 crore.“The official value of the total assets is estimated to bearound ₹9.24 crore. Their market value will be over ₹50 crore,” an ACB official said.Ravinder, a native of Nizamabad, had joined govt service on May 20, 1985, as an assistant engineer in the then Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, which was later merged into the newly formed HMDA in 2008.The accused has been arrested, and he would be produced before court on Wednesday for judicial remand.
