Dhubri, Barpeta step up AES-prevention measures | Guwahati News
Dhubri: The district has recorded 35 cases of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and two related deaths so far this monsoon season.All patients were treated at the hospital under the supervision of the health department’s medical team to prevent the disease from spreading.A Dhubri district vector-borne disease officer, Dr Nazia Khatun, said the health department has been monitoring the situation.“Apart from treatment and medicines, various health awareness meetings are being organised at the community and school level. Fogging drives are being carried out in the vulnerable areas. Insecticide-treated bed nets (ITBN) are also being provided,” Khatun added.On the other hand, the health department in Barpeta district is also taking precautionary measures to prevent an AES outbreak in the district.Talking to TOI, Barpeta district joint director of health services, Dr Bhupen Borah, said a district-level interdepartmental meeting was held on Monday to review AES and Japanese Encephalitis cases in the district and found that it was under control.
