Music teacher uses GPS to track down stolen electric scooter
The GPS system indicated that the vehicle was parked in Bibvewadi. After alerting the police, the 57-year-old music teacher from Prabhat Road travelled to the location and found the scooter abandoned in an open ground

Pune: A 57-year-old music teacher from Prabhat Road successfully tracked down his stolen electric scooter using its GPS-enabled mobile application after thieves broke into his bungalow on Saturday night.The teacher, a resident of Deccan Gymkhana, lodged a formal complaint with the local police on Sunday afternoon following the recovery of his vehicle.According to the police, the incident occurred while the family was asleep. Investigators suspect the thief entered the premises through an open window. The intruder ransacked the living room, stole various valuables, and grabbed the keys to the electric scooter before fleeing.The burglary came to light around 5:15 am on Sunday when the teacher woke up to find his cupboards flung open and his belongings scattered across the floor. Upon further inspection, he realised that his electric scooter, valued at Rs30,000, had been stolen along with copper utensils and other household items worth approximately Rs7,000.Senior inspector Runal Mulla of the Deccan Gymkhana police station told TOI, “The teacher accessed the scooter’s mobile application and activated the GPS tracking feature. The system indicated that the vehicle was parked in Bibvewadi. After alerting the police, he travelled to the location and found the scooter abandoned in an open ground.”While the thief escaped with some valuables, several stolen copper utensils and other household articles were found abandoned near the scooter.“We are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect. Based on the vehicle’s location, we believe the thief may be a resident of Bibvewadi or its adjoining localities,” inspector Mulla added.
