Taylor Barnard shows how a track walk in Monaco is different and difficult: “They don’t close the roads” | Formula – E News
Taylor Barnard recently took the initiative to inform his fans about what the usual track walk, listed in the schedule of a race weekend, looks like in Monaco, where things are a little different. The DS Penske driver shared a glimpse of a track walk in Monaco days after the Monaco E-Prix Formula E race and before the recently held Monaco Grand Prix.
Taylor Barnard takes fans through the challenging track walk in Monaco
Sharing the video, Taylor Barnard wrote in the caption on Instagram: “In Monaco, things are done a little differently. A small insight into how a track walk looks in Monaco after our last outing and ahead of this weekend’s Grand Prix.”Walking through the streets of Monaco, Barnard said, “In Monaco, we do things a little bit differently. As you can see, we’re on a track walk currently and we have to deal with some traffic. In Monaco, they don’t close the track in the days before the race while preparing for the weekend; they only close the track on race day.”Further giving an insight into the track walk, he said while walking beside the traffic, “So that makes the track walk for us a little bit more complex, let’s say, especially when we’re trying to look at individual corners, the camber, the kerbs and things like that. It makes things a lot more difficult. So a couple of examples would be the kerb at Turn 1, for example, which is now a roundabout and it’s obviously closed off by the barriers and stuff for the cars on the road.”“So that makes things a little bit more difficult. Obviously, going through the tunnel and all the twisty sections in Sector 2, with plenty of traffic and people around, it’s very difficult to actually see the proper racing line and the kerbs and stuff like that. So it’s a little bit more challenging, but probably the best one of the year,” he added.Reacting to the video, a fan wrote: “I have been watching F1 for 35 years… how the hell did I not know this before?” Another commented: “Love this insight.”
