Upcoming car launches in June 2026: New S-Class, BMW X6 & more
June 2026 is set to bring several new vehicle launches to the Indian market, spanning the luxury, performance, hybrid and electric segments. Automakers are preparing to introduce new models and powertrain options as they broaden their offerings across categories. The key launches expected this month include the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BYD’s new hybrid model, the BMW X6 M60i and the Skoda Kodiaq RS. Tata Motors is also expected to launch the Sierra EV, marking another addition to its growing electric vehicle portfolio. In this article, let’s look at upcoming cars in June 2026. Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift The first car on the list is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift set to launch on May 15, 2026. For the first time, the flagship luxury limousine will also be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain option in the Indian market. The updated Mercedes-Benz S-Class features extensive design revisions, technology upgrades and new features, with Mercedes-Benz stating that close to 90 per cent of the car has been reworked. The luxury sedan is also expected to receive a petrol engine option at a later stage, although the company has not yet confirmed the future of the diesel-powered variant.It is not yet confirmed whether the facelifted Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be brought to India as a CBU import or assembled locally to keep pricing competitive. The updated flagship sedan is expected to be priced from Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom), with the plug-in hybrid variant likely to command the highest price tag. Once introduced, the S-Class will compete against the Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series in the Indian market.The facelift introduces a larger grille with chrome star-pattern inserts and an illuminated surround, while the bonnet-mounted Mercedes emblem is now backlit. The redesigned headlamps are larger and feature triple three-pointed star-shaped daytime running lights. The S 450e with EQ Hybrid Technology trim gets a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline-six engine with an electric motor to produce a combined 435hp and 680Nm of torque. Power comes from a 22kWh battery pack, which Mercedes-Benz claims can deliver an electric-only driving range of up to 100km under ideal conditions.BMW X6 M60iNext is the new BMW X6 M60i, the Pre-bookings have already begun. It will be brought into India via the CBU route and is expected to be priced over 1.3 crores (ex-showroom). When launched, it will rival the Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe in the Indian market.Talking about the powertrain, the new BMW X6 will be powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which puts out 523hp and 750Nm of torque. It gets 48V mild hybrid tech and comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which sends power to all four wheels. The coupe can sprint from 0-100 in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kph.In terms of design, the new BMW X6 M60i gets updated styling while retaining its coupe-SUV shape. The front end now features a revised illuminated kidney grille, slimmer adaptive LED headlamps with new daytime running light signatures, and a redesigned bumper with larger air intakes and gloss black inserts. The profile continues with the sloping roofline that defines the X6, along with new alloy wheel designs and M-specific exterior elements. Sculpted body panels and a pronounced shoulder line maintain the SUV’s muscular stance.BYD’s new PHEVNext up is BYD’s new PHEV scheduled to launch sometime in June 2026. The company had recently released a teaser image which confirms that it will be a plug-in hybrid, although the company has not disclosed the exact model. The upcoming vehicle is confirmed to feature BYD’s DM-i Super Plug-in Hybrid system. The Atto 2 remains a likely candidate and has been spotted testing in India. In overseas markets, it is available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 7.8kWh or 18kWh battery pack, offering a claimed WLTP range of up to 928km and 998km, respectively.The Sealion 6 is also under consideration and has been seen on Indian roads during testing. Globally, it is offered with either a naturally aspirated or turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine, paired with 18.3kWh and 26.6kWh battery packs. BYD claims a maximum combined driving range of up to 1,092km.Tata Sierra EV Next on the list is the Tata Sierra EV. While Tata Motors has not officially announced a launch date for the electric SUV, it is expected to make its debut in the Indian market sometime in June 2026. When launched, the Sierra EV will be the sixth electric offering in India and will compete with models such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Kia Carens Clavis EV, Maruti e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and Mahindra BE 6. While Tata Motors has not revealed the full specifications, the electric SUV is expected to share its powertrain with the Curvv EV. The Sierra EV is likely to use a 55kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor. The claimed driving range is expected to be around 500km on a single charge. Expected features include Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, a ventilated power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, LED lighting and a three-screen dashboard setup.
